Zain Westbrooke admits he is relishing the challenge of competing for a place in the Rovers midfield.
Westbrooke has a signed a new one-year contract and will battle with the likes of Ben Close, Harrison Biggins and Tommy Rowe for a starting berth, with new additions also likely in the midfield ranks.
“Competition helps any player to be their best,” the 26-year-old said. “You need to be pushed, whether people like it or not. It will drive standards in the squad and hopefully it will help us to be able to compete for the top spots.
“I’m really excited for myself to be a part of this project. It’s a great feeling for myself, coming off the back of two years of not having too much of an influence on a team and a season, to now being able put my foot in and try to earn my shirt.”
