Rovers defender James Maxwell has hit the bullseye with a special gift from commercial partners Phoenix Joinery.
Maxwell celebrated his first goal for the club against Carlisle United on New Year's Day by mimicking the throw of a dart - which sparked the creative juices of Danny Winterman from Phoenix Joinery.
He got to work on a personalised dartboard cabinet for Maxwell and dropped in at Cantley Park to present the full back with his creation.
“As soon as James scored the goal, I sent him a cheeky message on Instagram that I never really expected him to reply to,” Danny said.
“But he did and he said he’d definitely take a dartboard cabinet so we made one and went with it. It turned out a lot better than I expected after thinking for a while about the design but I think we got it right - and James seems to be pleased with it.”
The front of the cabinet features Maxwell’s name and squad number along with the date and time of his first Rovers goal.
“It’s unreal,” Maxwell said. “Massive thanks to Danny and Phoenix Joinery for making it for me. They’ve done a brilliant job.”
Phoenix Joinery are a Bronze member of the 100Club Partnership. The company delivers both commercial and domestic joinery services including shopfitting and home furnishings.
