After Rovers putting in consecutively appalling away performances they will be hoping for a change of fortunes in Saturday’s game at home to Colchester. Ferguson’s team selection will be interesting with calls for Forrester and Keegan to start, reaching fever pitch considering the current first XI’s recent woes. Hoping to start for the Rovers will be new loan signing Conor Grant. It is almost insulting that we have signed someone who isn’t a defender but if Grant is going to give us some energy in the centre of the park, he could be a welcome addition to a midfield that has looked staleand lacking in ideas this season.
One thing we can expect against the U’s is goals. Colchester’s 15 games have featured an amazing 57 goals or 3.8 per game with the Essex club having conceded more goals than any other football league club this season. For any other club you would imagine the strikers would be licking their lips but Rovers forwards are so bereft of confidence I imagine they spend most of their time sitting in a darkened room weeping.
While the manner of the defeats have been disappointing I doubt many fans expected us to get much from Peterborough and Millwall away considering our current form but Colchester at home provides an opportunity to get a run going before winnable games away at Blackpool and home to Rochdale and Chesterfield. Ferguson has inherited a mess but another defeat would have to constitute a bad start and the players need to prove that they are actually league 1 footballers or just footballers of any kind.
Match Prediction DRFC 3-2 Colchester
We are due a bit of excitement and with two of the worst defences in the football league going head to head there is sure to be goals. Scoring 3 times in 1 game may seem insane at the moment but ifForrester starts he could be the key. Forrester (2) and Nathan Tyson Baby with our goals.
